I managed to find my way in the Berbie Palace or the Bishop’s palace. This was another building which was attached to the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Cecilia in Albi. I didn’t know it existed until I actually passed by the structure. I was lucky to have done so else I would have missed out on another heritage site. The Berbie Palace was an interesting place to visit. I wasn’t able to go inside the actual palace itself. It might have been closed for a public holiday. Because of this, I was only on the palace grounds, fortunately, one of the more important places in the palace is out in the open.
The Berbie Palace Gardens is a beautiful garden by the river Tarn. It is much like those gardens you can see in Versailles, not that large through. One look at the garden from above and visitors can appreciate the pattern of the hedges of the garden. I wasn’t sure if that meant anything but it seemed to be well kept. I like how the path I took actually led us there. There was a ledge where visitors can admire the garden in its entirety. I wasn’t sure if one can actually go in the gardens since the main palace didn’t seem to be open. I didn’t see anyone there either but that might be because it was raining.
