The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Cecilia in Albi has good collection of sacred art which was accumulated over the centuries. The treasury and the archives rooms of the the cathedral have been turned into exhibition rooms for the sacred art. If you have been one of these museums, I think they tend to have the same stuff in them. The tour continues around the rear of the church and we finally end up at the stone screen. Immediately on can see how intricate the stone screen is. But perhaps most importantly, are the statues which dot the screen at regular intervals.
These are actually statues of various saints from the bible. There are the famous ones but also some lesser known ones. I think they have plenty of room for all sorts of saints since they have 200 of these statues around the cathedral. This is considered France’s most important collection of statues. It was amusing to see which saint was carved in each location. They have names at the foot of the statues which help identify who it is. More impressively, the statues were all different, with each statue having distinct clothes all carved with great detail. I didn’t visit all of the two hundred statues, I don’t think I can take that, but most visitors would be able to pass by most of them if you go through the paid section.
