I was surprised to see a very impressive looking structure in the rear of the basilica of Saint Cecilia. It seems that there is something important here, important enough to charge an entrance fee work. The fee is minimal but I decided to hold off visiting that part but focus more on the rest of the church. It was dark as gothic churches tend to be, probably more dark that most gothic churches since the windows weren’t plentiful enough to illuminate the rest of the church. Take the chapels of the cathedral for example, there are several small chapels which round the interior of the cathedral. They are mostly places where the faithful can stop and say a little prayer of intercession usually to the saints which are enshrined in the chapel.
The chapels of cathedral however suffer from the same lack of illumination as the rest of the church. It was difficult to even see what was inside. It was a shame since it seems like there was very important works of art. There were lights within the chapel but wasn’t enough to see most parts of the chapel. Most of the time, it would just be illuminating the center of the chapel, where there is usually a statue of a saint or a painting depicting some scene from the life of Christ. I don’t really know how to fix this since this may also be to protect the works as well.
