It was finally time to go back to Toulouse, where I booked a hotel to stay in. It wasn’t that late yet but the sun has already gone down and I wanted to get back there earlier. Dinner was already done so I don’t really need to go anywhere. I started to make my way back to the train station of Carcassonne. It was still a bit of a walk since the citadel wasn’t right by the train station. I still need to pass through town to get there. I was trying to figure out how to get back and tried a shortcut which didn’t seem to bring me anywhere. In fact, it brought me to a rather dark part of the town which I didn’t want to be in.

Fortunately, my phone had enough juice in it to tell me where to go. There weren’t that many people anymore considering it is New Year’s Day. I was relieved to be back in the main town of Carcassonne and eventually made it back to the train station. The train station was rather dreary. Considering that it is a major tourist destination, I would have thought it would be bigger here. The platforms weren’t that welcoming either. They were dark but didn’t feel unsafe. I heaved a sigh of relief when the train to Toulouse finally arrived. At least it was much brighter than the train station.
