The next day was going to be a day of travel. It was the start of the year and I was done exploring the medieval city of Avignon. It was a very quiet start to the year but I was still on vacation and it was time for me to resume my trek in the southern region France. I would be taking a train all the way to the city of Toulouse which will be my base for the next view days. I liked how the locations seem to be very convenient since they are major cities and there will be a lot of connections from these cities. There will be a few places around Toulouse which will be worth visiting. I took a train from Avignon to the city of Toulouse.
Fortunately, connections between these two cities are very common and it was easy to get a train. The train wasn’t full at all probably because it was New Year’s Day. I thought that it was good that it was a holiday, since I would be spending the better part of the day traveling. Along the way, the train passed through Carcassone, which was actually one of the places which I wanted to visit. I was debating on whether I should just get off here and start exploring then continue on to Toulouse in the evening. However, I had a large backpack with me and I don’t think I would have enjoyed exploring Carcassone with heavy stuff. I ended up staying another Ibis Budget hotel. I like how they would position these hotels near the train station, there was still a walk but it wasn’t very far.
