That night, I realized that it was actually New Year’s Eve and I was trying to find a place to eat. I would have wanted to eat at a French place but I couldn’t seem to find a place available. Most of the menus were New Year’s Eve menus and they were not cheap. I ended up at Le Riad, which is a Moroccan restaurant. They also had a New Year’s Eve menu which the special markup as well. I think there was no escaping that. After all, they need to pay the staff who need to work over the holiday. I can’t remember when the last time I had Moroccan food but this one was quite nice. The restaurant itself was quite dark and it was hard to take a photo of the food. I was even given a time limit to finish dinner by a certain time, presumably because they have a prior booking. I guess I was lucky I went there early, else I would have to have sandwich for dinner on New Year’s Eve.
I went around the medieval city of Avignon but eventually I thought I just wanted to lie down and rest. I have visited a lot of important locations here in the city and I was very impressed with it. I like how it doesn’t seem to be very touristy and that I could just easily explore the place on foot. I wasn’t sure if not a lot of people come here to Avignon or maybe it was just because it was a public holiday and no one really comes here for that. Either way, there gives me more room to explore the city.
