I think I have more or less explored much of Vieux Lyon. I really enjoying walking through the centuries old streets and it feels like being transported back in time. Vieux Lyon is the old city of Lyon and much of it is still there. What is nice about Lyon is that they decided to keep much of the old parts of the city and just build around it. As a result, Lyon is a wonderful mix of architectures ranging from the ancient Roman empire to modern times. It is seldom that you see this kind of mix even in very old cities.
I decided to leave Vieux Lyon and try to see the modern city. I actually went around the town the previous night it was already dark by then. I want to see the city in the day time. I passed by a few of the landmarks which I visited the previous night. Naturally, it was much busier here. Places like the city hall of Lyon were just as majestic as it was in the night. I’m not very well versed in architectural styles but it seems that Lyon is a good study for a student of architecture. There is even a building which reminded me of the palace of Versailles. All this in a modern breathing and living city which hasn’t been turned into a museum city.
