Vieux Lyon is a district in the city of Lyon which lies at the foot of Fourvière Hill. This is where the old town was and still stands up to this day. The city has since expanded across the river Saône, leaving Vieux Lyon intact. Vieux Lyon’s layout is an elongated one. It basically follows the river Saône. The old town has a handful of streets. They are considered the main street of the town and as expected, this is where much of the activity happens. I really like these kinds of places thought the cobblestones can make it a bit difficult to walk on.
Vieux Lyon as a wonder to explore. There are numerous old structures here and sometimes it would feel like you have been transported back to the middle ages, that is, if you ignore the tourists that inevitably find their way here. A lot of the establishments here are restaurants and I think most of them are very interesting. After all, Lyon is known as a culinary destination. It is it a bit before lunch time so I decided to just walk around the town and see the sights. Just looking at the town makes me understand why this was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site listing.
