I think I have explored much of Fourvière Hill. There were signs pointing to some ruins but it seemed to be too far away. I decided to forego that and just head back down the hill. I thought it was strange to build the city on a hill since it was difficult to get there in the first place. Although there are ruins of two theaters here there weren’t a lot of other structures from the Roman times. It would make sense if there was a palace here but it might have been cannibalized for materials or just wasn’t there in the first place.
There is a road which leads all the way down Fourvière Hill. I understand that there is funicular but I wasn’t able to try it. I’d rather walk down and see Lyon using my two feet. On the way out, I passed by what appears to be a communications tower. It reminded me of a very small Eiffel Tower. There was probably no need to build a very tall tower since the tower was already built on top of a hill. There didn’t seem to be any way up the tower. It is most probably private and not open to visitors.
