I was happy with my visit to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière. There were two churches one on top of the other, something which I have never seen before. The church is unabashedly Marian and the devotion of the people shows in the interiors of the church. I was making my way out of the basilica when I passed by what appears to be a small chapel. It is actually attached to the basilica building and has a door from the basilica itself.
However, the chapel also has a door of its own. Perhaps when the main basilica is not open, they chapel would remain open. The chapel is obviously much smaller than the basilica next door. It is much more quiet than the basilica but I think I would prefer the church below the main one. The chapel still has room for two columns of pews. The altar features a status of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Small as it may be, the chapel is still considered Romanesque in design. There were a handful of people praying here but I believe most people would be in the basilica. This makes it a great place for prayer.
