Amazing as the Odeon of Lyon may be, it would be even more amazing to know that there are actually two theaters built on the hill side here in Fourvière Hill. While the Odeon was built for for singing and poetry. The theater can be said to be an all around venue capable of hosting any event. As one might expect, the theater is also very old, parts of it have been dated to the year 15 BC. Subsequent additions to the theater have made it the current size it is right now which can host ten thousand spectators. Once at the Odeon in Lyon is very easy to get to the theater, in fact you just walk to the theater next door.
The Odeon and Ancient Theater of Fourvière are one of only two sites where an old odeon and theater were built side by side. Indeed it is an interesting sight to see two of these at once. I actually would have been more than happy to visit just one of them. Both are in remarkable shape and are still in use for special occasions. The view over the city of Lyon also helps to improve the spectacle. Compared to the odeon of Lyon, the ancient theater is much larger, I would like to explore this theater before I move on to another place.
