Crossing the River Saône

Morning at Vieux Lyon

Morning at Vieux Lyon

I was delighted to see the old town of Lyon. The old town was built along the banks of the River Saône. There seems to be a hill on the other side of the river and the old town was built on the hill. This makes for a nice scene where heritage structures rise above each other. I am actually very excited to start exploring this old city but there is still nice scenery to be had here. The city of Lyon is built on the confluences of two rivers the Rhône and the Saône. The River Saône is the one which the old town faces.

Crossing the Passerelle du Palais de Justice

Crossing the Passerelle du Palais de Justice

There are a number of bridges which cross the River Saône. Obviously, there would be ones for vehicular traffic. But they also built bridges for pedestrian traffic. These are actually more pleasant to walk on compared to the former. The ones which happened to be nearby was the Passerelle du Palais de Justice which probably means bridge to the palace of justice or courthouse. It was a modern footbridge but it nonetheless provided pedestrians and tourists with an easy way to cross the river. It seems to be a popular jogging path as well, since several joggers ran past me causing the bridge to wobble. It was unnerving to be walking on the wobbling bridge and I thought that I was the one causing it. I convinced myself that it was the joggers doing it.
