The next day was the day I leave Warsaw and Poland altogether. I had a great time exploring the two biggest cities of Poland as well as some interesting sights outside the cities. I was pleasantly surprised with how modern Poland is. It was actually contrary to my imagination. I am aware that a lot of Polish people leave the country in search of greener pastures so I guess you could forgive me for thinking that the country was a huge backwater. Of course, not everything is modernized from what I see, it looks very good. A tourist’s first impression of a country would a lot of times be the airport.
Warsaw’s main airport is Warsaw Chopin Airport. It is named after Frédéric Chopin the Polish pianist. I actually had no idea that he was Polish until I came here. It seems that he is that big that the airport was named after him. I think it is not very common to name airports after historical figures but in this case he was deemed that important. I took the bus to get to the airport terminal. I was proud of myself for having made it all the way to the airport using public transportation. It helps if the bus goes straight to the airport from where you are staying. The terminal building appears to be a modern structure and it is clad in glass. It was still some time before my check in so I just hung around the terminal until the counter opens.
