Saint John the Baptist Church is a church just outside the castle grounds. In fact, it is the first church that was built outside the castle. The location which the church occupies dates back to the 13th century, but the actual structure of the church wasn’t the original church. It had been destroyed several times in the past due to wars. The last destruction was due to World War II. Fortunately, there was no need of any reconstruction these days and we can now enjoy the current structure. The church is also constructed of brick much like the nearby castle. The brick material makes it a striking structure compared to the nearby structures.
There was no service at the time of my visit so I was able to drop in and take a few photos. The interior of the church was primarily white. I think this seems to be quite common in modern Polish churches as far sa I have seen. Whatever the reason may be, I think it helps to brighten up the interior. In a way, I was a bit disappointed with the church. I was hoping it would be something fancy but I guess after years of rebuilding the church, it might be better to just keep it simple.
