I arrived in Warsaw early afternoon, and I think for the first time this trip, I didn’t feel like doing anything. I was resting in the apartment in the Old Town of Warsaw for a couple of hours and then I realized I didn’t have lunch. I went outside for lunch and the old town doesn’t have a shortage of eating places. I remember a small restaurant I passed by the other day and I told the owner that I would be back after having a look at the menu. The old man was still there but I doubt that he remembers me. I will be having lunch at Portretowa Restaurant.
This is another Polish restaurant definitely aimed at tourists but I didn’t really matter to me. Food here is generally inexpensive and not to mention different. I like trying out different kinds of food when in a foreign country. I don’t really know much about Polish cuisine but I usually just pick something that is sounds interesting. After all, in these kinds of touristy restaurants, what they have on the menu is most probably a Polish selection. I ended up ordering a fish dish. It was a bit difficult to eat because it had a lot of bones. To start the meal, I had beet root soup, which was tastier than I expected. It had a rich deep red color which looked amazing. I remembered that the old man who met me outside the restaurant was suggesting duck the other, perhaps I should have just taken his advice.
