I tried a few times to get a table at the Pod Aniołami restaurant but it seemed to be always full. The last time I tried, I reserved a table for myself and I managed to land a table for dinner. Pod Aniołami is an atmospheric restaurant which was formerly a 13th century cellar. I don’t think there’s a lot of them like that here. The restaurant goes deep underground to where the tables are. I was surprised how high the roof was in the dining area considering that it was underground. The place was full and I was very lucky to get a seat here. I order my food and just admired the interiors.
There is a medieval banquet here but I don’t think I can eat something like that. I ordered a meal for myself which consisted of roasted wild boar. This is a kind of ingredient you won’t find everyday and it should be like pig but a little tougher. This feels like a fancier version of the wild boar dish I had the other day. The presentation was much better and it seemed to use some kind of spice which I have never seen before. I believe the point was to show the tradition of Poland to use ingredients which were available back then. It seems to be a common theme in Polish restaurants like these, but this is probably the fanciest one I have seen. The wild boar was not that bad. I was hoping that it would be softer but I think that it just the nature of the meat. This was probably my most expensive meal in Poland but I think it was worth the experience. It seems some days they have performances but I didn’t see one when I was there.
