I wasn’t planning on exploring the entirety of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. It is far too large to explore on foot, I would be too tired to be able to do anything else by the time I finish. Instead, I decided to have a sample of what it has to offer. I have seen the main monastery and a gate which unfortunately, didn’t have any name. I was following an arrow which pointed me to the direction of Herod’s Palace. These chapels are meant to represent locations which were prominent in the passion of Jesus Christ. Herod’s Palace seemed to be one of the more prominent ones which is still nearby.
I was surprised to know that this Herod’s Palace wasn’t actually by the main road but it is actually off a small dirt road. There is a chapel or gate before that which is named Chapel II the Fall. I think it represents the time which Jesus fell for the second time. I am most probably wrong but I don’t see too much material about this. The more important structure here would be Herod’s Palace. As you may know according to Saint Luke, Herod’s Palace is where Jesus was brought to by his enemies only to be sent back to Pontius Pilate. This Herod’s Palace didn’t look like a palace at all. It appeared to be a nicer version of The gates I saw earlier. I was lucky at the time since the sky was clearing up give me a deep blue sky. I heaved a sigh of relief since it had been threatening to rain the whole morning.
