I was immediately struck how well maintained the Church of Saint Paraskevi in Kwiatoń was. This was a bit unlike the other churches or tserkvas I have been to. The church was built around the 1700s and it obviously went through several renovations for it to look the way it is right now. Structures like these probably need regular maintenance especially the outer walls and roof which are most exposed to the elements. This is to ensure that the interior of the church does not need to be redone. I was lucky that the church happens to be open, I know how nice these churches tend to be and I’m looking forward to seeing it.
There were other visitors to the church and they seem to be locals. The man was gesturing to me to just take photos. He didn’t speak much English but he handed me a flyer which told me about the church. As expected the interiors of the church were marvelous. There was a liberal use of gold here and it really help to brighten up the church. From the inside, it is not obvious that there are three towers. I guess that was the point of the design.
