I think I have gotten tired of walking around the old town of Krakow. It was already dark and I was getting hungry. As I was going around the old town, I was keeping an eye on what interesting restaurants are there. The center of the square features as lot of Polish restaurants. There weren’t that cheap considering it was local fare. There were a few foreign restaurants here but probably what aroused the most interest for me was that Balaton Restaurant. Balaton Restaurant is a Hungarian restaurant and is said to be the oldest Hungarian Restaurants in Krakow.
Curiously, Hungary doesn’t share a border with Poland but they manage to set up shop here. It is possible that Hungarian food is quite well known in this part of the world that there can be several of them here. I don’t know of any Hungarian dishes apart from beef goulash. Sure enough I did order goulash, however it is a bit different from what I expected. There is a potato pancake which is contains the beef goulash filling. It was surprisingly heavy and I was struggling to finish the whole thing. It was actually nice but perhaps I wasn’t expecting how much they would have. The price is actually quite reasonable considering that this was in the old town of Krakow. I pushed it all down with a glass of Zywiec.
