Going Up the Town Hall Tower in Krakow

Walking Up the Town Hall Tower in Krakow

There was a prominent tower in the middle of Krakow square. It was a rather strange place to be in. I found out later that the square wasn’t like this back then. There were more buildings back then and it was only relatively recently that the rest of the buildings were cleared leaving the cloth hall and the tower here. Why leave the tower? Maybe it was a form of defense, although the area around the square is pretty flat, one would probably prefer a location which has higher ground. Anyway, it seems that it is possible to climb the tower at the square. I would love to get the chance to see Krakow from a different angle.

There is a minimal entrance fee here and immediately, you would feel that you have been transported back to the middle ages. The inside of the tower is dark and it is all stone. There are some exhibits here but they seemed to have been placed in an awkward position that I didn’t know how to get there in the first place. It feels that they didn’t plan the tour that well. Anyway, I had to focus on the task at hand. I don’t like climbing long flights of stairs but I think it would help me warm up since it was chilly that day.
