The old town of Warsaw has a surprising number of churches considering how small this place actually is. Perhaps at that time, the old town was considered large but one can actually go around the town in less than an hour. Royalty has a penchant for building churches and this seems to be true in Warsaw. Not too far from Saint John’s Archcathedral is another church this time dedicated to Saint Martin. I’m not familiar with the story of Saint Martin but it seems he was important enough to dedicate a church to. It is built along Piwna Street which is the old town’s longest street.
The church of Saint Martin dates back to 1353, which certainly makes it very old. There were a few other structures built together with it such as a hospital. It is a rather large building considering its location. In fact, it was rather difficult to take a photo of it since one would be right next to it to photograph it. Even my wide angle lens couldn’t take a full photo of the church. The design of church is said to be gothic though it doesn’t look a like a typical gothic church which I have come to know.
