I found myself visiting the famed Slieve League here in county Donegal. Slieve League was one of the first sights I visited in county Donegal and I think I didn’t have a very good impression of the place. Partly because it was my first few weeks in Ireland and I didn’t really know what to expect here, especially when it came to the weather. At the time, it was typical Donegal weather, rainy and windy. I didn’t like it. That probably lessened my impression of Slieve League since we had to battle the elements just to see the place.
This time around, the weather was much better. It wasn’t exactly brilliant sunshine but at least there were patches of blue sky. With luck, I might finally get a nice photo of Slieve League. Slieve League is considered one of Europe’s highest cliffs. When I first saw Slieve League, I didn’t think of calling them cliffs. It was more like a mountain rising from the sea. I imagine cliffs to be walls of sheer rock rising from the sea. Perhaps that is a more traditional image of a cliff and I didn’t know there were different kinds. Anyway, it was a good enough day for a walk up the cliffs. It seems that not much has changed here and the path is still as rugged as ever. At least it was dry.
