One of the more interesting sights here along the Slea Head drive is the Gallarus Oratory. I saw a photo of the oratory and I decided that I would be visiting this place. There were signs pointing to the Gallrus Oratory along the way so it was easy enough to find the place. There was a large carpark here at the place which makes this place look like a very well visited place. There is a visitor center here to purchase tickets but they seemed to be more intent on selling tickets rather than assisting visitors. After purchasing my tickets, I was left wondering where to go.
I thought that I would be going back out to the carpark where I would have to drive to the site. Even the signs here were lacking. Turns out that a building near the carpark is the audio visual room to watch a video on how the oratory was created. I think this was their way of saving money to pay for a dedicated tour guide. Why hire when you can use a video instead. I was more interested in the oratory itself so I went back inside the visitor center. There was another door there which wasn’t very obvious which led to the path to the oratory. The oratory can’t be seen from the outside so one would have to purchase tickets to see it.
