Conor Pass is said to the highest pass in Ireland. I think I can believe that. The twisting road crossing the mountain range at the center of the Dingle Peninsula leads visitor to the scenic Conor Pass. Already visitors can see how stark the landscape here is. There are no villages nearby, but the scenery is breathtaking. The place used to the site of glaciers when the climate was much cooler. The glaciers sculpted the mountains here giving them their current appearance.
There are also small lakes here probably also a result of the past glaciation. There is a nice stopover here at the pass where visitors can admire the views. There is also a good sign which explains the geological processes which made this possible. It should be noted that it is quite steep here so it might be a little difficult to access. Parts of the road are also wide enough for only a single vehicle so it pays to be a little more aware here. Some traffic can build up here because of the people taking turns traversing the narrow road. After the main stopover area, there is another one nearby which allows visitor to see even further. It was a pity that the sky was overcast when I was there else I probably would have gotten better photos.
