Valentia Lighthouse is one of the well known landmarks here at Valentia Island. I was surprised to know there are quite a few places to see here in Valentia Island. Fortunately, there was a well marked path to follow when exploring Valentia Island. I think it is small enough for a day of exploration, though it would be much more convenient to have a car for this. The lighthouse is the gateway to Valentia Harbor as it would be dangerous to navigate this waters without a guide. The weather here in this part of the country can be really bad as can seen from the photos.
The top of the lighthouse allows visitors to have a great view of the area around the lighthouse. This area is called Cromwell Point. One can clearly see how rough waters are in this area. Since it is actually near land, it won’t be surprising to know that there are shallow rocks in this area. I wonder how many shipwrecks have there been in this area. Much as I want to appreciate the view here, it was really difficult given the powerful wind that day. I guess I’m just thankful that it is not as powerful as when I was up a mountain.
