Geokaun Mountain is one of the highest points of the Ring of Kerry. This place is probably best accessed by car though people might try to hike this depending on their fitness level. The walk actually isn’t that bad but the weather is. The winds at the Fogher Cliffs sort of ruined a stunning scenery here. I should already be used to this but it still never fails to ruin my mood. There was another car park here but there I couldn’t see what was so interesting here. I decided to proceed to the last car park and it seems to be the highest point in the island.
Geokaun Mountain gives visitors a great view of the area. Being the tallest in the area, the mountain gives people a 360 degree look at Valentia Island and beyond. It was actually not bad seeing this. One of the spots was called Shepherd’s View. I could only guess why it was named so. There weren’t any shepherds around to ask. On a good day, this placed might actually be a good spot. It was here that I saw a light house and it made me realize just how high I was. The wind constantly reminds me of the fact as it makes me want to hide in the car the moment I step out.
