I was just following the road when I came exploring Valentia Island. The island is the most westerly in Ireland and it is quite accessible. The island is actually very well sign posted for people who finished seeing Skellig Michael. I was going in the clockwise direction and just following the signs. The next interesting sign was one for Fogher Cliffs. I thought it was another cliff. I was surprised to know that this place has tickets. Actually there was a ticket even for cars. I didn’t feel like hillwalking in this bad weather so I paid for the car fee. The good thing is that there are three parking areas here for each of the spots here.
The first part is the Fogher Cliffs. After parking the car, it wasn’t a very long walk to the cliffs. To the right one would see the spectacular scenery. It was only then that I noticed how high up I was. Indeed, this point is one of the highest in the the Ring of Kerry. However, the higher you go, the more powerful the winds get. It was actually tough to get proper photos here since the winds were so strong. The area is fenced so there was no danger of falling. It would be nice if the weather was much better and I would have been able to appreciate this place better. The previous day was good, I wished I gone and saw this place the previous day.
