We thankfully got back to dry land, very much shaken up by the rough sea, but back in one piece. The wind has noticeably picked up even back in Portmagee. I was just thankful that we got back. I was also very happy that I managed to get to Skellig Michael in the first place considering how bad the weather was. I heard there were a lot of cancellations because of the weather. Because of this, there weren’t a lot of people on the island. Not only that, the bad weather grounded all the puffin. First order of business was to have lunch. It was already one in the afternoon. I got a quick lunch at a nearby pub.
Now, I had a choice, to continue on to the town of Tralee or stay here and head to Tralee later in the afternoon. I was told that the nearby Valentia Island was a good place to visit. It was one of the options given to me in case the Skellig Michael didn’t push through. I unexpectedly finished ahead of time so I had some time to go to Valentia Island. It actually isn’t that far. It is actually just a bridge crossing away. Valentia Island, however, looks a much larger island compared to Skellig Michael, so a vehicle is a must here unless you plan to cycle around the island.
