I tried figuring out what else was here in Kenmare in county Kerry. I found a stone circle and a street market. The maps says there was an old church or abbey but I couldn’t find it. I was thinking that it isn’t really that interesting here. Perhaps is claim to fame was that it is on the Ring of Kerry. The Ring of Kerry is basically a tourist route which brings one around the county of Kerry. It is a substantial road and I think one needs to allocate a day or at least half a day for this.
My first stop in the Ring of Kerry is the town of Kenmare. That was followed by lots of driving which roughly follows the coast of the county. I was actually a bit disappointed here since I can’t see much along the way. I thought that the road was too far inland that I can’t see the coast where I assume the nice scenery is. Even if I don’t see anything, I still have to travel the same route. I’m actually on my way to the place where I would be spending the night at Cahersiveen. It is still a long way off.
I came across this busy little town which seems to be a major stop along the Ring of Kerry. Sneem is a tiny town which benefited from its location. The town has been dolled up for visitors and it does seem to be pretty. There was a bridge where a lot of people seem to be. It seems that there is the Sneem River here which traverses some large rocks on its way out to sea. I also notice that the mountains around this area seem to be quite picturesque. I didn’t linger much here in Sneem as I need to make it in time for my bed and breakfast.
