When I was at the top of the Rock of Cashel, I got a very good view of the town of Cashel and the surrounding area. I noticed that there was another cluster of ruins not too far from the Rock. I decided that since it was still early in the afternoon, I would pay that place a visit. After all, it would not be nice if all I saw in Cashel was the Rock of Cashel, even though that was the main point of visiting the town. While the ruins didn’t seem to be that far, I didn’t want to spend too much time going to the ruins. I took the car and made my way here.
One thing to note here was there there really isn’t any parking here. I merely stopped by the side of the road and made my way in. I thought that this might be more suited to cyclists but I’m no good at that. I thought it was interesting to see another cluster of ruins seemingly isolated from the rest of the town. This was Hore Abbey. The abbey is somewhat isolated here. It sits on a grass field with no other nearby structures. It was a curious location one which warranted further investigation.
