There are a lot of nice gardens here in Glenstal Abbey. For me, it is hard to imagine that these are actually school grounds. From where I come from, vast greenery in a school is a luxury. This place is rather remote as abbeys tend to be. I was wondering how kids could come to school everyday it is was this vast. This is a private school, so perhaps the parents would be a little more well off. During breaks, the kids would be able to enjoy the nice greenery, fortunately, they opened the ground to visitors.
My final stop here at Glenstal Abbey, is a literal final stop. There was a cemetery here with a few plots. I think it is common here in Ireland to be buried in church. I guess this is not really surprising since the people here are very religious. Churches back home don’t have the space for this anymore so they have dedicated cemeteries. Here in Glenstal Abbey, there is a lot of space. I thought it would be weird for the kids in school to be roaming around in a cemetery. Maybe this is one of the creepier places in the complex. I’m sure I don’t want to be here at night.
