When told of my plans to visit the south of Ireland, my good friend told me to go visit Bunratty Castle. It was along a motorway which makes it easy to find. True enough, one can see the castle itself from the motorway but getting there, would mean I need to pass through the Bunratty Folk Park. I think it was a nice little side show for the main attraction. I guess it does mirror how villages were back then. There was a castle with houses of the villagers around it. The folk park is a nice addition else one can’t justify paying so much for just visiting a castle.
I didn’t know much about Ireland before, probably leprechaun and green but that was it. I didn’t know that Ireland had a multitude of old castles scattered all over the country. This would be the start of the exploration of some of the best known castles of the country. I have been to a few Irish castles myself but they all tend to look alike. I expect Bunratty Castle to be something like that too. Past the folk park is a path which leads to the castle itself. It was still raining so I can’t really get any blue sky shots here. I was fearing the worst since the forecast says it will be raining the whole day. Nothing I could do about it but try to get my shots anyway.
