It snowed continuously the whole day in New York City. I don’t think any of us have experience anything like it. It was difficult to move around but we enjoyed it a lot. We spent some time playing in the snow in Central Park which was covered in snow. I think it was a unique experience despite the inconvenience it caused. The next day was a much better day. The snow has stopped and we can finally move better. Our friend wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty, which is practically the symbol of New York City. The previous time we went there, we took a long route of walking through Battery Park and taking the ferry in very hot weather. This time, we knew where the ferry was and we took the subway to get there much to the relief of my good friend.
The Staten Island Ferry only crosses the river. It doesn’t go to Liberty Island itself. For visitors who just want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty, the Staten Island Ferry would be perfect. Additionally, the ferry is also free of charge. There is a nice ferry terminal for passengers and ferries are quite frequent. We managed to get on a ferry and we were on our way in no time. The ferry doesn’t really approach the statue itself, in fact, it would be quite small. I wasn’t too keen on paying for another trip to Liberty Island but I think this will do. We tried taking photos outside the deck of the ferry but the wind was strong and with the low temperatures that morning, it was freezing cold. We quickly ran back in the ferry with numb faces. Apart from the freezing cold temperatures, the weather was actually very good. Once we got to the other side, we went right back in to take the next ferry back to where we came from. It was a fun ride and we enjoyed it a lot.
