The next day of our exploration of New York City was a bit of a surprise. It was snowing heavily. Seems like the snow here in New York is quite different from the snow in Ireland. This one is much drier and fluffier. It was a very nice change. We were thinking of exploring the city but with the snow, it might be a little difficult to move around. One of the options was the Intrepid-Sea-Air-Space Museum, unfortunately, the snow made it not very feasible to visit. I honestly don’t know if it is an outdoor museum so we decided to play it safe and stay indoors. The American Museum of Natural History is one of my favorite museums of all time. I was never really into art museums but the exhibits at this museum is really to my liking.

We arrived at the museum quite early and the snow was still falling. There was quite a bit of snow that fell overnight but it seems like it is starting again. We got in just as it was starting to get heavy and we won’t have to worry about it until a few hours more. I thought I was able to go around the museum the last time I was here but it seems that I missed a few halls. One of these halls was the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life. As the name implies, this one showcases various animals which live in the ocean. Immediately upon entry into the hall, one would see the most impressive exhibit here. Flying above the entire hall is a blue whale, the largest animal on earth. I knew it was big, but this is probably the first time I got an idea of just how big it really was.

There were other exhibits here as well, smaller mammals like seals. It also showcases various types of ocean habitats. Seaweed habitats, antarctic and, of course, coral. I really like these types of exhibits and I was glad to be here with my good friend. I was also glad to be able to visit this because I realized I missed an entire hall. I guess my excitement with the dinosaur fossils got the better of me.
