It was my second time to visit the Rockefeller Center. I know that the interiors of the center is something important but I really came here for the city view at night. The days are short this time of the year so we didn’t have to wait for nightfall. The last time I visited was summer and one could imagine how long it took to wait for nightfall. There were a lot of people in line to visit the top, we could have purchased tickets online to escape the queue but we didn’t. While in line, there was a commotion at the counter and the man was claiming he purchased tickets and that they weren’t honoring it. Apparently, he bought the tickets outside from someone and it seems the tickets weren’t real. I couldn’t really blame the staff for refusing to honor his tickets. I think one should know better than to buy them from some scalper.
We managed to make our way to the Top of the Rock. As expected, the night lights at New York city were dazzling. The skies were clear but the air was cold. The very top viewing deck was closed to visitor. The guard was claiming that the winds were too strong at the top that someone got blown away, not. The real story was that there was ice up there and it was dangerous for visitors. I really enjoy the view here and I think this is one of the best, if not the best view in the whole city. My basis for this was that one can get a good look at the Empire State Building from here. There is no point, for me, to go up the Empire State Building if you can’t see it. We didn’t linger too long on the Top of the Rock since our friend was already cold.
