Singapore has invested a lot in the Marina Bay area. I remember back then when it was only grass here and nothing else. It used to be a place for having steamboat dinners but back then it was considered too far away and quite remote. How times have changed. The Marina Bay area is probably one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in the country. Billions have been invested in improving this place. Most prominent of them is the Marina Bay Sands which is described as an integrated resort which features a hotel, casino, shopping mall and exhibition center.
There is actually a bridge which connects the Marina Bay Sands to the opposite shore. The bridge here was designed to look like a DNA strand. There was a contest to name the bridge and unsurprisingly, Helix Bridge won out. The structure is actually marvel of engineering. The DNA actually twists around the platform where people would walk on. There are platforms along the way to allow for photo taking. I like how they provided visitors with these facilities. I guess it is better than having them stop in the middle and blocking everybody. The platforms are a bit shaky though. The walkway itself has the letters of the DNA nucleotides – C, G, A and T.
