I wasn’t my first time here at the Shoppes at the Marina Bay Sands, in fact, I have been here multiple times, probably because it like the atmosphere here. It helps that it is large and that it doesn’t have the hordes of shoppers that the malls along Orchard Road have. The target clientele of this mall are the rich. I, not being one of them, can only look at the stuff on sale here. Not that I want any of them. I didn’t think there was any stuff here that I actually would want. Perhaps the tastes of the rich are different from mine. The Shoppes at the Marina Bay Sands is huge and it actually feels not unlike an airport terminal. In fact I can bet there there are airport terminals which look like this. That is probably a testament to how cavernous this place is.
There are no check in counters here but you’d be surprised to know that there is a river cruise here. Sort of. At the center of the mall, there is a pool of water which runs to the atrium. People here can enjoy a very short boat ride, manually powered to give you and experience of life back then. I thought this was a silly copy of what the Venetian in Macau has. The interiors of the mall contrast with the throwback theme which the boat ride tries to project. Still, some people do go on the boat ride. From the embarkation point, you float down to where people are having tea and turn back. I don’t think it is worth the money but your mileage may vary.
