I think I spent too much time at the Gardens by the Bay. It waited since late afternoon to take some photos and I had to wait even longer for the light and sound show at the end of the day. I was already starving by that time but I wanted to go through the Marina Bay area to take some night shots of the city. There are quite a few landmarks here and the weather was nice that I would be able to get nice shots here. First in the list is the towering Marina Bay Sands which stands right next to the Gardens by the Bay. There was much buzz about this building when it was being built. It was one of the cornerstones of the pivot of Singapore to the entertainment market, that means gambling.
Sands was one of the entities which got licenses to operate a casino here in Singapore and I think it has been nothing but a huge success. The casino is just a portion of the entertainment complex here. There is a hotel component here which is extremely prominent with three 50 story towers overlooking the Marina Bay. I think the view from the hotel rooms would be spectacular but I don’t think I would be able to afford the hotel rates here. I would probably just wander around the hotel and take photos.
