I am huge fan of architecture and even since I have thought to New York city as some sort of mecca for seeing impressing skyscraper architecture. New York, after all, is arguably the birthplace of the modern skyscraper. I also loved taking photos of buildings, however skyscrapers present a very different challenge since most of the time, I would be at the foot of the building trying to take a photo of the building. This doesn’t really give the building much justice since you can’t see the top of the building that much. But what can I do? One option would be to go to a roof of another building and take photos of it. I didn’t really know where you can do this but there may be some of them out there.
I was walking randomly when I looked up and I saw one of the building in New York which I admired the most. The Chrysler Building is one of the most iconic buildings here in New York city. It is a solid skyscraper with “only” seventy seven floors. It is dwarfed by only a few other buildings here but I think what is most striking is the design of the building. The body itself isn’t really very memorable but the crown of the building more than makes up for it. The art deco design is probably the most impressive part of the design. It has a terraced design with prominent triangular windows which give the impression that it is radiating outwards. All of this is punctuated by a tall spire. At night, the crown is highlighted and can be see for miles.
