Ligñon Hill is probably the best place to take in the beauty of the majestic Mayon Volcano. One only needs a short climb to be able to get a 360 degree view of the area. Dominating the landscape is of course Mayon Volcano, but you can see other places here. Almost directly opposite Mayon Volcano is the sprawling city of Legazpi. It is difficult to notice any distinctive features in the city since I wasn’t really familiar with the place. I did see the hotel where I was staying at and it seems so far away.
Anyone looking from this view point would undoubtedly notice the Legazpi City Airport. It seems to be quite busy as there were several take offs when I was there. Legazpi City is a very busy city and it is not surprising that there are a lot of flights servicing this city. There is a single runway here but traffic doesn’t seem to be that bad yet. Perhaps the next time I come here I would take the plane. The bus ride from Manila was just too exhausting. Traffic seemed to be heavy all the way. What made it more frustrating was that just when we were arriving at Legazpi City was an accident which brought everything to a standstill. I know accidents are not something anyone wants but still it should not stop traffic for hours. Anyway, here at Ligñon Hill there was another group looking around but it seemed that I had the entire place to myself.
