There was a series of windmills which was in close proximity to De Rijp, we decided to pay it a visit. We had a car with us and it was convenient enough to go there. Turns out one of the windmills was a museum. It is named De Museummolen or mill museum. This was my chance to see what the inside of a working windmill looks like. We were at Kinderdijk a couple of days ago but we didn’t get to go in a windmill since it was closed by the time we got there. Today is a much better day and I think we would be able to get great photos. There is a car park out in front and we just dropped the car there.
There is a canal in front of the windmills since they are used for pumping water. I don’t know if that is still the case since much of the land here has already been pumped out. I thought they would have more modern ways to pumping water other than this. The museum has a visitor center where you can purchase tickets to enter the windmill. There is also a dining area for those who get hungry. It just had lunch so we don’t need that yet, perhaps tea would be a good idea. There are also exhibits here illustrating the history of the Netherlands and its use of windmills.
