At first glance one might think that De Rijp is a one street village. It is hard not to make that assumption. Coming in the village, it seems everybody needs to pass through only one street. There were parts which didn’t seem wide enough for two vehicles and one would have to give way another in coming vehicle quite often. People here probably just have a bicycle to go around, it is a small village anyway and the most happening place here is probably the village center.
There is something of a square here and I think it is the busiest place in town. There were a few restaurants here including one where we had our lunch. I think there were a few historic buildings here including the old town hall. The town hall stands by a canal with a gate to let boats through. I think this is the most interesting place in town as well as one of the most picturesque. The buildings here were remarkably well preserved and they pretty much look like each other. It is worth exploring other parts of the village as well, I don’t think you would run out of photo opportunities.
