We started exploring the attractive village of De Rijp. It was a tiny village near Beemster. It used to be a lake side village known for its herring industry. When the water got pumped out, the herring industry naturally died off. What is left now is a village stuck in time. We realized that it was already lunch time. We were trying to find a place to eat here. We needed to walk to village center to find a place to eat. There were a few places here but we eventually settled on a restaurant which seems to have an open air part.
I was hoping to find some Dutch food but I don’t even know what it is. I eventually got myself a pancake with bacon. It wasn’t really very special, it was nice but not very filling for me. I tend to have my meals quite large but the serving is not that filling. My friend went for an omelette which looked good as well. I was thinking of having snack when our friend whom we left in the hostel called us up asking where we were. We left under the impression that he wanted to sleep the day away. Anyway, we decided to meet up later in the afternoon.
