We finally managed to drop our stuff at the Train Lodge in Amsterdam. Now, it was time for dinner. The immediate area of the Train Lodge is more office and it doesn’t have places to eat except perhaps the nearby De Amsterdamche Tram, which is more of a bar than a place to eat. We decided to go downtown. After all, one of the main attractions of the Netherlands is the city of Amsterdam. Other than the canals of Amsterdam, I don’t know too much about it. In this trip, we hardly stayed in Amsterdam because we were out making use of the rental car to go to faraway places. There is a train from the Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station to the city center. Isn’t very far at all. Soon enough we were in the town.
I was surprised to see how busy the city is. I guess I have been in the country too long that things like these surprise me. Our first order of business is dinner. I would have wanted to try some authentic Dutch food, but my Dutch friend told me, there isn’t such a thing. I don’t know about that, but we ended up at this very touristy street. There was a restaurant there, At James, which caught our eye since it was serving ribs as a buffet. We tried to sit outside but the air was cold and I wanted somewhere warm. I don’t think having ribs would keep me warm so we sat upstairs. I already know I won’t be able to eat more than two here but I love eating ribs. Unsurprisingly the ribs weren’t spectacular. It was okay and not too tough. We were able to have two each along with some Dutch beer. I didn’t think there was anything special about the restaurant but I won’t say it is a bad choice either.
