As usual, we didn’t have accommodations here in Antwerp since I booked every night in Brussels, fortunately for us, Belgium is not a very big country. Additionally, it was very easy for us to get from one city to another what with the excellent railway network Belgium has. The only wrinkle in this plan of ours is that there is a railway strike that day and train services will be limited. The good thing is that the trains were still up and running but they were less frequent than normal. With this in mind, we didn’t want to stay too late in Antwerp lest we get stuck there without a train back to Brussels.
According to Google, the train still run into the night but I didn’t want to risk Google not knowing that there was a strike. We went back to the train station before it got too late and we managed to catch a train back to Brussels. The train was almost empty with only a handful of people riding. Perhaps they knew of the train strike which is why they won’t want to travel during this time. On the way back, we were told to get off the train and catch another one. It seems it was trying to put more people in the trains since they were half empty. The challenge was to know which train to get on. The conductors understood English and they gave us instructions which one to take back to Brussels. I don’t think we would have gotten lost since we just needed to follow the train line. We managed to get back to Brussels in one piece and got off at Brussels city center for some more drinks.
