With no real agenda to follow, we were randomly walking around the city of Antwerp looking for interesting things. Somehow we stumbled into a pedestrian street. It was very busy and I think I knew what it was. It was a shopping street and I think this is the first one I have seen in Belgium. There were shopping areas in other cities but I only ran into this place in Antwerp. The place is called Meir and it seems to be a street and a general area. My feelings of Antwerp being a classy place were further bolstered when I saw this place since it was teeming with designer goods shops.
Meir is an impressive shopping street. Instead of large shopping malls. They have shopping centers. A lot of the buildings here were very beautiful and it really doesn’t feel like a shopping center. I think that is why it became a shopping center since the design was nice and the building was large enough. There are enough shops here to keep the shopaholic busy. I was tempted to buy a pair of pants but decided against it since I will be going somewhere else at the end of the month. This is a welcome breath of fresh air for me since I haven’t been in a situation like this in years. I guess, I got too used to the countryside.
