The Antwerp Railway station has got to be one of the most beautiful railway stations that I have ever seen. The interior of the station feels like the inside of a cathedral. I was thinking that if the interior was impressive then the exterior must be just as nice. The railway station opens up to what is probably one of the important square of Antwerp. Upon stepping out, what probably caught my eye almost immediately was a large ferris wheel. I wasn’t sure if there was something going on but it sits right in front of the Antwerp Railway Station. I didn’t like the placing and I was just hoping that it is a temporary thing perhaps for a festival.
Right behind it is the stately Antwerp Railway Station, and it really does look like a cathedral with all the domes and a big central dome punctuating the building. It seems to a huge mix-up of various architectural styles but it sure is very pretty. The railway station lists at one of the most beautiful stations in the world. It is interesting to see that train station has become a destination of its own. It just goes to show that apart from providing people the convenience of rail transport, it is not bad to add a touch of class to these buildings.
