It was amazing to see such a tall tower here in Bruges in Belgium. This UNESCO World heritage site is the home of several important structures. One of them is the Sint-Salvator Cathedral. The cathedral as you might expect is large enough, but the tower is certainly quite out of proportion with the rest of the cathedral. It seems to be the result of trying to one up the nearby Our Lady of Bruges church which also has a very tall tower. The result is this rather outstanding tower whose design seems to be quite different from the rest of the cathedral. There was a door at the foot of the cathedral.
Entrance to the cathedral is free. Upon entering the cathedral, you can see that there are some baroque art on display here. In particular, the rear of the church would probably catch your attention. The structure also contains the pipes from the organ and they look very well maintained. Curiously enough, there were no pews here but chairs. I wasn’t sure if this is the normal set up but I think for a church this large, it seems to be small inside. Off to one side is the pulpit, from where the priest would have said their homily. The interior seems to be underwhelming at best since I looks so impressive from the outside.
