We had a quick lunch at Keanes Restaurant because we wanted me make the most of the light since the days were already shorter. We wanted to cover as much ground as possible. So we were soon off. I was surprised that there was a place which was very near where we were. I read that there was a castle nearby and I was trying to figure out how to put a castle in the middle of this busy village. It was actually behind a supermarket, not to far from it but good enough to keep it separated. The castle here is Oranmore Castle.
The Oranmore Castle was built near the water as a lot of castles seem to be. Is it because there is good scenery here by the sea or is it easier to defend if it it by the water? Ireland has a lot of these kinds of castles and you would be surprised to just run into one as what happened to us. There are clearly marked signs to Oranmore Castle and it would be difficult to miss. We drove right in front of the gate to the castle. The gate was closed so I got of out the car to take photos.
