My friends and I decided to take a little break from work and go to somewhere we haven’t been to. We decided the Irish city of Galway would be our next destination. We have always talked about going there but we never did since it thought it was too far to drive. The drive wasn’t as arduous as we thought it would be. We left early in the morning with hailstones falling on the windshield. We were glad that the weather would be slightly better in Galway. We took two breaks to get to Galway, one at Carraroe where we had some coffee and another toilet break just as we entered Claregalway.
We will be spending a few days in the area and hopefully we would be able to explore more of it. We won’t be staying in the city itself but rather a village just outside Galway. While village may sound a bit rustic, it is really just a small town. The bed and breakfast we will be staying at is at Shanlin House. When I first found out about the place. The name sounded very Chinese and I was expecting Chinese owners to come and meet us. There were very much Irish and nice folks at that.
The house was huge as bed and breakfasts tend to be. I got a room with a large bed and en suite shower. It was approaching winter then and I was glad that the heating already on. Downstairs where the living should be are numerous leaflets for attractions near the city. The owner even gave us a map of some other interesting places which we didn’t know about.
